To mark the 90th anniversary of the birth of Alexander Pavlovich Ogurtsov

Abstract: 14 September 2026 marked the 90th anniversary of the birth of Alexander Pavlovich Ogurtsov — a philosopher, methodologist, theorist and historian of culture, science and technology, and one of the founders of the philosophical journal “Vox”. On 24 September, a round table entitled ‘Philosophy and Ethics of Science’ was held in his memory, at which his friends and colleagues spoke. The proceedings of the round table will be published in the next issue of the journal. In this issue, we are publishing two of his short works – a set of theses: one (‘To Whom Do Paradoxes Belong: Mephistopheles or Communist Thought?’) was written for the symposium ‘Russian Alternatives of the 20th Century’, held at the Aleksandrov Institute of the University of Helsinki (a Finnish institute for research on Russia and Eastern Europe) on 1–2 June 2006, dedicated to the history and philosophy of science, and in particular to A.A. Bogdanov and his role in ‘alternative Bolshevism’ (a brief report on the symposium was published in issue No. 4 of 2006 of the “Bulletin of the Russian Philosophical Society”). The others (‘Ontological Schemes as the Core of the Philosophy of Nature’) were also written for a conference, apparently devoted to the philosophy of nature.
