Our Ethics

Journal Ethics

«Vox. Philosophical Journal» adheres to the ethical standards and recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE: https://publicationethics.org/). Compliance with these norms is mandatory for all parties and participants in the publishing process. The Editorial Board of the Vox journal, in its ethical stance, takes into account the experience of authoritative Russian and international journals and publishers.

1. Impartiality
Materials submitted to the editorial board are evaluated solely on their professional level and scientific novelty, regardless of the authors’ race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, citizenship, political views, or other individual preferences – unless the author’s position constitutes a call for a direct violation of international and/or Russian law.

2. Confidentiality
All submitted materials are considered by the journal’s editorial board as documents containing confidential information. Access to this information is granted only to persons directly involved with the article: i.e., its submission for consideration, preparation, and publication. The editorial board guarantees that authors’ articles are submitted for review on an anonymous basis. The content of reviews is also confidential information. Unpublished data obtained from submitted manuscripts must not be used or transferred to third parties, or in any way used by members of the editorial board for personal purposes, without the written consent of the author.

3. Objectivity
The editorial board is responsible for making decisions regarding the articles proposed for consideration. The basis for the journal’s editorial board decision to accept an article for publication or to reject it is solely the scientific value of the article, its significance for the given field of science, and the quality of the material’s presentation.

4. Conflict of Interest
To avoid cases of violation of publication ethics, conflicts of interest among all parties involved in the manuscript publication process should be excluded. A conflict of interest arises if the author, reviewer, or a member of the editorial board has financial, scientific, or personal relationships that could influence their actions. Such relationships are called dual commitments and competing interests.

In order to prevent conflicts of interest and in accordance with the accepted ethical norms of the journal, the following responsibilities are assigned to each party.

a) The Editor-in-Chief is obliged to:
– transfer the manuscript for consideration to another member of the editorial board if the initially appointed reviewer has a conflict of interest with the author of the submitted manuscript;
– request from all participants in the manuscript publication process information about the possible occurrence of competing interests;
– make a decision on the publication of information specified in the author’s letter concerning a conflict of scientific and/or financial interests, if it is not confidential and may affect the evaluation of the published work by the reader or the scientific community;
– ensure the publication of corrections if information about a conflict of interest is received after the article’s publication.

b) The author is obliged to:
– indicate their place of work.

c) The reviewer is obliged to:
– inform the Editor-in-Chief about the presence of a conflict of interest (dual commitments, competing interests) and refuse to review the manuscript.

The materials contained in the received manuscript are the subject of the author’s exclusive right and are not used by anyone with access to the manuscript for private purposes.

5. Authors
a) Authors guarantee that their articles are not under consideration by another journal’s editorial board and that they have not been previously published.
b) Articles should represent original scientific research. In the case of borrowing materials from other researchers, a correct reference must be made, formatted in accordance with the journal’s requirements.
c) All individuals who made a significant contribution to the research should be listed as co-authors of the article. It is inadmissible to include among the co-authors persons who did not participate in the research.
d) It is necessary to acknowledge the contribution of all persons who in any way influenced the course of the research; in particular, the article should provide references to works that were significant in conducting the research.
e) Unauthorized borrowing and reproduction of any elements of the article (text, graphics, primary data, etc.) are unacceptable. Borrowed elements reproduced with the consent of the copyright holders must be presented correctly and accompanied by an appropriate reference. Authors must have permission to use illustrations, diagrams, etc., the rights to which belong to third parties.

6. Reviewers
a) A manuscript received for review should be considered a confidential document that cannot be transferred for inspection or discussion to third parties not authorized by the editorial board. Reviewers undertake to respect copyright and under no circumstances use the submitted original materials or their fragments in their own research or for personal purposes, nor disclose information about the articles submitted for review to unauthorized persons.
b) The reviewer is obliged to give an objective and reasoned assessment of the presented research results and clearly substantiated recommendations. Critical comments should relate to the substance of the matter and the quality of presentation, not to the personality of the author(s). The reviewer’s comments and suggestions should be objective and principled, aimed at improving the scientific level of the manuscript.
c) The scientific review of articles is carried out within the time limits set by the journal’s editorial board. If it is not possible to complete the review within the specified time frame, the reviewer must immediately inform the editorial board.
d) The sole criterion for evaluating an article is its scientific significance. Any decisions based on any personal preferences of the reviewer are not permitted. In the event of the presence or emergence of a conflict of interest in any form between the reviewer and the author, the reviewer is obliged to immediately notify the journal’s editorial board and refuse to review.
e) The review of the article is confidential. The full name of the reviewer is known only to the Executive Secretary and the Editor-in-Chief of the journal. This information is not disclosed.
