Format, Mission and Scope of the Journal
«Vox. Philosophical Journal» is a peer-reviewed academic electronic journal whose main task is to develop philosophical analysis, i.e., philosophical-logical, critical thinking aimed at studying both the theoretical and extra-theoretical foundations of scientific, metaphysical, ideological, and theological constructions and representations. The journal publishes original articles (as well as Russian translations of original foreign-language articles) in Russian, with the possibility of simultaneously publishing their English translations.
Thematically, the journal does not restrict authors in their choice of problems; however, there are methodological preferences and limitations related to the philosophical-logical and philosophical-analytical orientation of the journal. The focus of research attention should be on the basic principles and fundamental properties that lie in the conditions of possibility of the phenomenon or event under study. The analysis proposed by the authors should relate to foundational concepts and notions. To compare different methodologies, preference is given to articles that explicitly discuss the methodological features of the relevant research.
The development of philosophical analysis within the space of Russian culture is impossible to imagine without the concomitant development of philosophical language. Therefore, the journal pays special attention to translations of significant foreign-language texts into Russian, accompanied by substantial commentaries, as well as to critical reviews of existing translations. We also accept for publication review articles, reviews of philosophical books and events, and other articles reflecting essential moments in the development of philosophical analysis both in Russia and abroad. In particular, in one of the journal’s sections, we publish interpretations of important neologisms and significant concepts that have become commonly used, and we also clarify and interpret existing concepts.
The journal is a registered mass media outlet (El No. FS 77-27570) and has the ISSN 2077-6608. Our personal Crossref DOI prefix: 10.37769. The journal is published four times a year and is indexed in the databases of Crossref, RSCI, Cyberleninka, and Ulrich’s Periodicals Directory. The review form and a sample article layout are available on the journal’s website.
Journal Policy and Structure
Manuscripts, which the editorial board asks to be sent by email, are subject to anonymous (double-blind) peer review by two anonymous reviewers, from whom the author’s name also remains hidden. In the event of a negative review from both reviewers, the editorial board reserves the right to refuse publication without further explanation. The editorial board’s decision is sent by email by the editor-in-chief or the executive secretary of the journal. Authors may request access to the reviews upon request. If the review contains comments and suggestions for the author regarding the revision of the text, the review is sent to the author before publication without fail. If the author exceeds the deadline (two weeks) allotted for revising the text after comments from editors and proofreaders, the editorial board has the right to refuse the author publication.
Manuscripts recommended for publication by the reviewers and approved by the editors-in-chief of our journal are placed mainly in the sections: “First Word”, “Past Continuous”, “Steps in the Footsteps”, “Meanings of Logic and the Logic of Meaning”, and “Academic Council”. Publications from these sections are subject to mandatory submission to the databases that index our journal.
In the sections “The Light of Learning”, “Responses-Calls”, “Chronicle”, “Nota bene”, “Controversial”, and “Appendices”, we publish dissertations, student works, reviews, critical notes, interviews, congratulations, letters to the editor, etc. Only those publications from these sections that are formatted in accordance with the RSCI requirements and have undergone external peer review are subject to submission to the RSCI database. The founders of the journal reserve the right to publish materials in these sections without external peer review.
Our journal is non-commercial: articles by students, graduate students, as well as all other articles, are published free of charge!
