Abstract: This article analyzes the nature and characteristics of psychological addiction. It distinguishes two aspects: the first, a way for an individual to resolve their problems at the expense of others and through escapism; the second, a partial or complete blocking of the dependent individual’s consciousness. A theoretical interpretation of these aspects is offered within the author’s concept of psychic reality and dreams. The author supports and illustrates her theoretical reflections with two case studies: the first analyzes the development of alcohol addiction (the specifics of alcohol reality, scenarios for acupuncture interventions on the psychophysiological platform, an explanation of Yu. T. Yatsenko’s method, and the limitations of this method). The second case examines one patient’s addiction to their illness. Furthermore, the concept of psychological addiction is characterized, the conditions and factors that determine such addiction are listed, and an approach to addiction relief is outlined that combines medical and psychological methods.
