Abstract: The article discusses the methodology and principles that the authors used in their book. We are talking about L. Cherniak and M. Rocklin’s understanding of sacred experience, European history, the reasons for the European man’s falling away from the covenant and God, the reduction of history and life to the mind, and man as such to a Jew. The arguments presented by the authors are analyzed, two ways of understanding the Jewish worldview are distinguished (in one case as the foundations of the general Abrahamic religion, in the other, realized in the book “Covenant and Metaphysics”, as following a specific Word described in the Tanakh). In addition, Chernyak and Roklin reflect in line with a very specific tradition of the Word, namely, the intellectual one, which presupposes various, including philosophical and theological, interpretations and commentaries. Both the contradictions and problems that arise when reading and understanding “Covenant and Metaphysics” and the complex existential situation of our time, which forces us to look for a solution to the problems under consideration, are analyzed.
