Abstract: This publication presents the translation of the treatise “The Art of War” by the ancient Chinese strategist Sun Tzu (6th–5th centuries BC), translated by N.I. Konrad. The treatise contains the basic principles of warfare, strategy and tactics, which have had a huge influence on military thought in the East and West. The translator’s introductory article introduces the history of the text, its structure and key ideas, such as the importance of strategic planning, the use of deception, army management and knowledge of the enemy.
