Abstract: Russia occupies one of the leading positions in arms production and arms trade, yet abstracts away from the moral and political problems arising for this reason. The current article attempts to comprehend this fact and considers the general tendencies of post-Soviet Russia and its transition from reforms to reaction after 2000. To pursue this aim, the author proposes to use the experience of V. V. Sokolov, the famous historian of philosophy. In addition, V. P. Makarenko formulates the general problem of the connection between abrupt changes in political course of the government to ideologically justify the high-level arbitrariness of political hierarchy under the pretext of short-term political gain and a distinct understanding of pragmatism. The author also uses his personal experience in the awareness and understanding of this problem and shows that the axiological sphere is formed much earlier than the logical- epistemological one determining this way the majority of subsequent choices. Moreover, the article shows that the specificity of the value system developed in the conditions of intermediacy imposed from the top consists in the ability to cultivate distance between the official ideology and the politics of the version and their actual development under all circumstances. In this context, alternatives to the existing order of things are further considered.
