Abstract: The correspondence between student Olga Zaytseva and researcher Nikolay Murzin (Institute of Philosophy RAS) is published, dedicated to the problem of understanding the Logos in the philosophy of Heraclitus. Zaytseva raises the question of why Logos is often identified with the world reason, and proposes to interpret it as a special space, a “metareality”, in which reason merges with Truth. Murzin develops the theme, showing that the problem lies in the ambiguity of the word “logos” and the habit of substantiating reason. He analyzes Heraclitus’ fragments using the metaphor of sleep and awakening, and concludes that Logos is not a transcendent metaphysical instance, but reason itself, which a person must learn to realize and develop within himself.
