Abstract: The work is devoted to the analysis of the scientific and organizational activities of the German physicist Erich Schumann, who was one of the key curators of the German nuclear project on the part of the military. In historical publications, his activities in this post were assessed as extremely inefficient and unprofessional, which was attributed to one of the reasons for the failure of the German nuclear program. Recent publications made on the basis of new archival data allow us to completely reconsider his role and the results of his activities within the framework of the German Nuclear Project.
