Immanuel Kant (1724–1804) — German philosopher, founder of German classical philosophy.

Perpetual Peace (1795)

Abstract: The philosophical treatise “Perpetual Peace” (1795) by Immanuel Kant is published. In this work, Kant sets out the conditions for achieving lasting peace between states, formulating preliminary and definitive articles of perpetual peace. Kant distinguishes between the position of the practical politician and the theoretical philosopher, arguing that the opinions of the theorist expressed publicly do not pose a danger to the state. The treatise contains key ideas of Kant’s cosmopolitanism, republican government, and the law of nations.
