Abstract: According to the author, the whole of history, allowing it to be conceived and established, is not only the interpretation of history, but also the historical way of life of a person and the historical way of existence of culture. The reality of history merges in a certain sense with the present; history — not only acts on a person like art, it relies on historical facts, unfolds before us stories that are eventually clear, having a beginning and an end, provides us with knowledge about the past (in the form of certain versions, interpretations), suggests a new, historical reality in culture. A distinction is made between three types of history: «plot», «applied» and «scientific» («interdisciplinary»). The last version of history is associated with the process of conceptualizing history in philosophy and science, which begins at the end of ancient culture and in the Middle Ages, but it really only gains strength in modern times. This is not just a philosophical and scientific understanding of historical constructions and explanations, but also the creation of a methodology of history and the practice of historical research — historical science itself. The story as a story about past events appears in historical science only as an empirical basis. In interdisciplinary history, the main thing is the creation of principles and ideal objects. With their help, theoretical and philosophical problems and tasks that were posed during the reflection on the events of the plot story are solved. The material of one case analyzes the features of applied history.
