Abstract: Arguments are given, which show that such notions of classical theory of history as «historical process» and «logic of historical process» demand now the complete rejection or at least the radical reassessment and revision. Basing on P. Veyne’s concepts, we outline briefly an alternative historical discourse, in which the notions in question are preserved only on the local, but not on the global level, and some concrete examples of them are presented.
