Abstract: The paper discusses the methodological problems of historical knowledge arising from the orientation of historians on large-scale phenomena and the lack of models for representing events that combine micro- and macrohistorical levels. An assumption is made about the possible prospect of corpus studies in history, which could lay a statistical analysis of individual histories as a foundation of a historical research, paving the way for the transformation of history from descriptive science into the so to speak «statistical mechanics of individuals».
