Abstract: In the paper the phenomenon of the empirically equivalent theories in modern physics is considered. It is shown that existence of such theories signifies a new stage in the development of scientific knowledge. At this stage science becomes able to study not only the reality as it is given, but also the other possible variants of the structure of reality. We point out the special feature of the philosophical problems which are related to new stage in science. They are the problem of scientific truth and the problem of unobservable objects. We also outline ways of solving of these problems.
