Abstract: The proposed text is a continuation of the translation of the book of the Dutch theologian, historian and philologist G.J. Foscius “Art of the Historians”, begun in No. 23 and No. 24 of “Vox” In the fifth chapter, Fossius moves from a story about the main reasons that create a story to a description of its design. He reports on what circumstances can attest to the marked course of events. The role of philosophical generalizations in this design is revealed. Examples of the use of people’s faith in the historical sequence for the implementation of certain plans are given. The sixth chapter deals with the separation of historical time from mythological. Clio takes over from the history of the way of mutual confirmation of the elements that make it up. In turn, the historical approach can serve as a way of recalling half-forgotten events, their possible identification, as Herodotus wrote about this (see Chapter 5).
